"Does the Ketchup Remind You of Death?": Lorraine Bowen at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, 1994: August 28, 2004

A year after I saw Lorraine Bowen perform at the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, she turned up as a performer at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. So of course I had to go wander over :-) to hear The Burger Song again... 

I know, I was standing too far back when I took this photo, but it gives you a good idea of the size of the audience for the Folk Fest day stages (they usually have five or six of them scattered throughout the Bird's Hill Park site). 

I remember that Lorraine is singing a song about vermiculture (the raising and production of earthworms). The brown thing to the left of her is someone dressed up as an earthworm :-) and then a second earthworm joined in for some synchronized wiggling. Let's just say it was a unique experience. It was also my first Winnipeg Folk Festival, ten years ago!
